WORK IN PROGRESS
I have been working on a "new" photo collection for some years. The work will continue but now I have quite many photos
already and my vision has got more clear what comes to wholeness of photos. Some of the photos in this swedish blog tsnoK
"Art Backwards.
tsnoK is an attempt to write about art and to perform criticism in a different way. Primarily by diverging from the regim of exhibitions. We do not review current exhibitions. We do not report from the front line, we were not even there! We write about things like single artworks, old exhibitions and artists´ hobbies. We want to modify the sense of time within the field of art, fracture a calendaric understanding of the present, and the understanding of what is now. An exhibition that was attended years ago can for instance rise to the surface as something contemporary, indeed more up to date than when it actually occured. Or perhaps it has become something different than it was back then. Maybe this is a way of analyzing what has happened, from a current location through past experiences.
In a similar way we want to expand the notion of the public. Duchamp once said that art is deprived of something when it becomes public. That is so true. A lot of stuff you contemplate never reaches public attention because it simply lies too far away from mainstream. Or, it can be too narrow, or geaky or indistinct. We would like to highlight some shadowy business, things that are excluded just because… they are. Perhaps indisputable or contra-consensus. We would like to make some of this public, but only safely, after the fact. We are not into depriving.
The journal includes some fixed sections introduced by their captions; they will not all be updated simultaneously and the order will certainly change with time. Our modest expectation is to contribute to the coming critical revolution in Sweden. We are not on the forefront, we stroll along in other directions."

SOKEA VIRTA / BLIND STREAM
Toinen yksityisnäyttelyni Sokea virta on esillä Pohjoisessa valokuvakeskuksessa. Esillä on teoksiani vuosilta 2008-2014.
My second solo exhibition Blind stream is going on in Northern photography center. There are works of mine from the years 2008-2014.

Pohjoisessa valokuvakeskuksessa avautuu marraskuussa Saku Soukan [s.1982 Oulunsalossa] näyttely Sokea virta. Näyttelyn teosten lähtökohtana on henkilökohtaisuus, kokemuksellisuus ja havainnointi.
“Valokuva-, video-, runo- ja installaatioteoksissani ajattomat teemat kuten rakkaus, pimeys, valo, kuolema jne. yhdistyvät enemmän aikaan sidottuihin teemoihin kuten globaalisuus ja läsnäolon pirstaloituminen sekä luonnollisen ja teollisen välinen kontrasti. Kyse on yksilön suhteesta kaikkeuteen, elämänvirtaan. Haen kaikkeudelle jonkinlaista tasapainoa ennen kaikkea henkilökohtaisella tasolla”, Soukka kuvaa teoksiaan.
Teosten aiheissa ja käänteissä ihmishahmot hahmottelevat eksistentialistisia kysymyksiä. Oma sijansa näyttelykokonaisuudessa on yksilöiden välisillä suhteilla, ja niiden hahmottelulla. Saku Soukan teoksissa henkilökohtaisista aiheista tulee yleisiä ja toisinpäin. Näyttelytilaan saapuessaan katsoja ympäröityy tilallisella kertomuksella, jossa kertomus nytkähtää aina kunkin teoksen kohdalla johonkin suuntaan. Soukka lukee itse kirjoittamiaan runoja näyttelyn avajaisissa 31.10.
Saku Soukka opiskelee viimeistä vuottaan Kuvataideakatemiassa. Sokea virta on hänen toinen yksityisnäyttelynsä. Näyttelyn teoksia on ollut aikaisemmin esillä ryhmänäyttelyissä esim. Emmassa Espoon modernin taiteen museossa, Suomen valokuvataiteen museossa, Kuvataideakatemian lopputyönäyttelyssä, Tent Academy Awardsissa Rotterdamissa Hollannissa sekä Studi aperti -festivaaleilla Amenossa Italiassa.

Northern Photographic Center presents in November Saku Soukka´s [b.1982 in Oulunsalo] exhibition Blind stream. The starting point for his works is in personal life, experiences and observations.
“In my photographs, video works, installations and poems timeless themes like love, darkness, light and death etc. are combined to more time-bound themes like globalism, fragmentation of presence and conflict between natural and industrial. Works discuss individual’s relationship to wholeness and to the circle of life. I´m trying to find some kind of balance in wholeness above all in personal level”, Soukka describes his works.
In themes and turns in his works human figures sketch existential questions. Intersubjective relationships and sketches of them have their own place in this wholeness. In Saku Soukka´s works personal comes public and vice versa. When arriving to gallery space viewer is circulated by spatial story, which moves always to some direction when confronting artwork. Soukka will read his poems in Finnish at the opening of the exhibition 31th of October.
Saku Soukka is a last year student at the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts. Blind Stream is his second solo exhibition. Works from this exhibition have been exhibited before in group exhibitions for example in Emma Espoo Museum of Modern Art, The Finnish Museum of Photography, the degree show at the Academy of Fine Arts, Tent academy awards in Rotterdam Holland and Studi aperti -festival in Ameno Italy.

Täältä voi kuunnella kun luin runojani Oksasenkatu 11 -galleriassa Matinea-tapahtumassa (14:42-24:00).
Mun osuus on siis kohdassa 14:42-24:00. Voit siirtyä kohtaan pitämällä hiiren vasenta nappia pohjassa soittimen päällä
jolloin aikalukema tulee näkyviin ja vapauta hiiren nappi kun olet oikeassa kohdassa. Ihan aluksi soittokohtaa ei voi
säätää, mutta noin 2-3 minuutin kuuntelun jälkeen se on mahdollista.
